Hi,
Around here we are not allowed to gamble so hypothetically let's say there are 6 players playing "Guts". We play a little different but rules are rules. Could you please help us decide the outcome of this. Only 3 of the 6 players stayed in this peticular hand so we will call them A,B,and C. First off , the pot can get really high and at this time it was $40.00. All losers must match the pot. What we do (Hypothetically) is hold cards high over the table and the dealer counts to 3 and all players must drop simultaneous if not in. We do not call "in" or "out".
Here's the situation. Players A and B hold and at around a 3.5(count) player C drops.(His intentions were to drop at 3 but he held a half second too long) Most of the 6 players at the table call player C out saying you held "too" long. Player C says he folded. After a small arguement player C flips his cards over and lo and behold he has the highest hand. Player A had the worst hand so we know that it means nothing to him (or does it ?) ......He lost. Player B however having the best hand held at 3.5 seconds feels he has won the pot because player C's intentions were to fold. Player B feels that no way should he match the pot at $ 40.00 when he feels that he is the rightful winner. We would like a response from you !

Everyone take a quarter and cover it up. Put it one way or the other (based on what you want to do). If it's heads, you're in, if it's tails, you're out. This will end any possible controversy.

If player C flipped his cards over, and would have been expected to match the pot had he lost, then his hand is legit.

I loved this game, but haven't played for awhile. Do you play with straights and flushes? We did, and btw, str beat fl in 3 card guts.

arcfinn, folding/dropping cards means you don't have to match pot, only losing players holding cards pay.

So let me review. We played 1-2-3-guts, having to drop on guts. You could drop early, as a fold is a fold, tho frowned upon. If you held too long, and 1/2 second too long, you were folded.

As I see it, player C dropped, late, wanted to fold, and is folded. Can show cards, but CANNOT win, folded. Thus B wins, and A pays.

ouch, that is harsh, as they all have to ante for next hand, right? Should be called ballz...

Just to qualify "He held too long, folded.". We instituted that as a defense to the hold a little longer, see what others do, then decide.

Now, one could 'fake' a drop and hold, but never fake a drop and drop, that was hold.

Guess, one of those games with a lot of local rules.
