Everytime im heads up with my friend i seem to lose especially if he has the big stack. We usually play with .10/.20 blinds $5 buyins and raise it later. He will call almost anything pre-flop and rarely raise. On the flop, if i check he will raise a dollar or so no matter what and everytime. If i try to bluff by raising him he will call and sometimes re raise which puts me in a difficult situtation. I cant play and then fold if i got nothing on the flop everytime because when i do raise on flop he will know i have something. He acts as if hes got the nuts everytime and i dont konw what to do when he raises on flop and i got nothing. Any help anyone please!

imo this is the PERFECT way to play heads up. Heads up is very different from having 2 or more opponents

Heads up i will play ANYTHING if i can afford the blinds. I wont even 2nd guess a 7-2o. Simply because if you catch eiter card it is safe to assume you have a huge lead. since he is only holding 2 card as are you.

Agressive is the best way to play. So next time you are heads up with him just try something, throw your current strategy right out the window. Call his nothing raises on nothing. Bet on nothing. Go to the river with barely better then nothing. Just give it a shot

you have nothing to lose since you arent winning now anyways

Obviously this guy wants to play lotto. Against players like this, it come down to 2 ways to play -- get run over or gamble.

I am finding that calling does not work heads up. Its either fold or raise. I raise with any painted card, any connector and any two suited cards.

Do you beat an agressive player by being more aggressive. I don’t know but I do know you have to gain his respect and control over the s.e.r.p (semi skilled ego driven player). If he is a maniac forget about it they cannot be controlled. I would wait for two pair top pair ( on the flop) and rip is head of and double up. Let him win the small pots and bluff you out, when you control him you can then start to bluff him.
I know many people will classify this play as tight and weak but you can bluff lots of people out with this image.

Small stack or not as long as you have a decent amount of chips you need to raise 3x the flop or fold. You need to make him consider giving away the big blind, and small blind vice versa. After the flop if you have an overcarsd raise again

Aggression is fine, just don't call raises with the likes of 7-2o. I like the pocket pairs, any value, and I like the face cards. I too will play most hands if it's cheap enough to stay in, though I don't like to bet before I've seen the flop and got something concrete in hand.
